How about a pop playlist? Sure... and it'll begin with Robert DeLong, who asks:
"Did I make money, was I proud?
Did I play my songs too loud?
Did I leave my life to chance?
Or did I make you fucking dance?"
Don't be fooled by the pop feel of "The Life" by Gary Clark Jr. Let me tell you, that guy knows how to rock. His album Blak And Blu is, at times, an old school blues rock record that sounds like it could have been recorded in 1975, but there's also some pop and R&B, proving he isn't confined to any genre. His is the sort of album that make a listener ask "Who the hell is this guy and how could this be his first CD?" It's really impressive stuff. If you're in Portland, you can find it at the library.
