Neither One Of Us Will Make It Down This Hill Alive, She Said

I was listening to a bunch of music on shuffle in my iTunes when a song came on that made me stop and listen. It was new, but sounded so much like old REM that I almost had to check to see if that's what it was... almost. Then I heard Colin Meloy's voice and realized it was the new Decemberists. I've posted the song below. Tell me that doesn't sound like early 80s R.E.M.

I mean that in a good way, of course. I wish R.E.M. still sounded like that. Alas, they've lost their way.

I simply cannot say enough good things about the self titled CD by Fences. My Girl The Horse is a perfect example of why you should stop whatever you're doing and go buy the thing. I like it so much that I wish I'd bought the actual CD.

I'm not sure what to think about the new Iron & Wine disk. It's been nearly four years since we've had a new Iron & Wine CD, and though this one opens with the wonderful "Walking Far From Home," it goes downhill from there. Maybe I need to give it time? We'll see...

P.S. What is mine is yours.
