A Winter Walk
The weather wasn't too bad on Sunday, considering it's winter in Portland. Instead of rain, the sky was simply gray. That's good enough for a walk around town, which is exactly what I did, snapping random photos along the way.

I have a Tamron 28-300 mm lens, and I really need to stop using it. It's just not crisp, and it has a terrible time focussing. Speaking of focussing... I need to learn to focus my attention more when I'm out with my camera because I have a bad habit of taking shots like this while neglecting to take a wider angle shot of the entire building for the sake of putting it into perspective.

Even worse, I often take a fun shot that gives no clues as to what it actually is. For example, would you have any clue that this photo...

...is a shot of this building (pan the map to the right).
Ahh well. Nobody is perfect :)
Here's a gallery of the shots I took on Sunday. Click any photo for a larger version, and you can click, press N (next) or P (previous) or your arrow keys to navigate.
I've been working on a combination of using the flickr API plus a lightbox javascript photo viewer to automate the posting of photos here... and there it is. Sounds more complex than it is. I'm actually hoping now that I've set it up that it'll be super-quick for me to post photos here in the future. We'll see ow that goes. Regardless, I think it's a pretty slick system.

These are really thoughtful and interesting (as well as random). Wish I had more of an eye for this kind of thing, then I could give you better commentary when you post pix!
