Me And Gravity, We Never Could Agree
Every now and then, I'll hear a line in a song that makes me stop, regardless of what I may be doing. I bet you do that too.
Tonight, I was reading a book I'm quite excited about for the oddest of reasons, really... the book is relatively unknown, but it's written in a style of flash fiction where many short pieces that could easily stand on their own are told chronologically to create a novel.
The book is "My Life At First Try" by Mark Budman, and I made it my goal to read as much of it as I could tonight... but then...
"I am not a monster, I believe like a liar would believe. It helps me navigate the wooden smiles, the raging sea."
...a line from a song playing quietly in the background interrupts me. In this case, it was a line from Angel, by Matt Nathanson... followed by Jason Mraz and then Evan Dando...
And this was the playlist that totally sidetracked me - originally posted here on October 9th, 2006.
The Guitar Playlist
- I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You | Colin Hay
- Breakfast | K's Choice
- Angel | Matt Nathanson
- 0% Interest | Jason Mraz
- Frying Pan Song | Evan Dando
- Shimmer | Shawn Mullins
- Annie | Jonatha Brooke
- Twilight | David Gray
- The Best Deceptions | Dashboard Confessional
- Audience With The Mind | The House of Love
Breakfast, by K's Choice, is one of my all time favorite songs. If those lyrics don't bring a tear to your eye, honestly, you must lack a heart. It's as simple as that.
