Despite All My Rage
Anybody who doesn't remember the lyric "Despite all my rage, I am still just a..." wasn't listening to the radio in the fall of 1995. I didn't even finish typing the line, but I'm sure you know the rest. Has it really been over thirteen years since the release of Smashing Pumpkins' "Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness?" Yes, it's been that long, if not longer.
These last eight years have felt longer than the years that preceded them, and this next year or two will feel longer still as we all hang on until our economic whirlwind calms down again.
And yet, as I listen to a cover of Bullet With Butterfly Wings from that 1995 Smashing Pumpkins album, the song sounds fresh and new. That's what a good cover should should like, in my opinion.
