Sometimes The Answer Isn't 42

Douglas Adams may have taught us that the answer to life, the universe, and everything is 42, but sometimes 42 isn't enough. Apparently, yesterday was only Vote For Steve Novick Day for 42% of us.

You win some, you lose some. The bad news is, Steve Novick lost to Jeff Merkley, with 42% of the vote to Merkley's 48%. Hilary Clinton also got 42% of the vote in her race against Barack Obama (Barack got 58%). I found it curious that Clinton's campaign is well over twenty million dollars in debt, yet she had money to run TV ads here in Oregon. Hey, I'm just pointing out the obvious.

The good news is Sam Adams won, Barack won, and best of all, Oregon whipping boy Kevin Mannix went down in flames again last night while running for yet another office.

In 1996, Mannix ran for Oregon Attorney General (as a Democrat?!) and lost. He tried again in 2000 (as a Republican) and lost. In 2002, he ran for governor and lost. He tried again in 2006 and lost before even getting the Republican nomination. And yesterday, he lost in his bid to get the Republican nomination for a run at the U.S. congress in November.
