The Song Is Called WHAT?

This may be the final Music Monday playlist here on Jalpuna, which means I'll be killing the radio player too. It's been lots of fun, but the new rules regarding fees and such for streaming music kicked in today, and they'll probably spell the end for a lot of online radio everywhere. I'll post more about all of this later.

You probably never noticed, but, from the very beginning of my Jalpuna Radio playlists, I never repeated a song. Instead, I added a second radio player that repeated previous playlists in their entirety. I point this out because I find it interesting that this week's playlist brings the total number of songs played to an even 700.

Interesting... or not? I dunno!

OK, ok... enough of that... on to this week's playlist! I think it's a fun one.

This week's playlist is all about odd song titles. Read the list... you'll see what I mean.

    The Song Is Called WHAT?
    07/16/07 - 07/22/07

  1. Henry Needs a New Pair of Shoes | Lowest Of The Low
  2. H.W.C. | Liz Phair
  3. De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da | The Police
  4. The Systematic Dumbing Down of Terry Constance Jones | Butterfly Jones
  5. Can I Take My Gun To Heaven? | Cracker
  6. Got Ma Nuts From A Hippy | The Fratellis
  7. Your Big Assed Mother | The Wonder Stuff
  8. Eat My Dust You Insensitive Fuck | Catherine Wheel
  9. The Hopes And Dreams Of Heaven's 10,000 Whores | American Music Club
  10. Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm | Crash Test Dummies
  11. Me Vs. Maradona Vs. Elvis | Brand New
  12. Twiggy Twiggy/Twiggy vs. James Bond | Pizzacato Five

This closing track is... well... it is what it is. I have no clue what she's saying, and if you can sit through more than sixty second of it, more power to you. The music is so infectiously catchy - for the first twenty seconds. And then it turns into four minutes of your life that you'll never get back

I intentionally avoided anything by the Flaming Lips or Sufjan Stevens as that would be too easy.

I would love it if you would still post playlists anyway. I can get the music off of iTunes myself. I rely on other people to expose me to new music (I have a bit of an aversion to "Top 40" type stuff). I have discovered many a great song and artist through you! Remember the time you suggested "Weightlifting" by the Trashcan Sinatras to me? I always listen to it now when I feel as though I need to shed a few layers.

That said, I have been neglecting my own blog for quite a while. Perhaps I'll start posting some of my favorite music there too.

That's too bad! One of the things I looked forward to on Mondays was your radio. I may not have liked every single thing but they were fun and I got to hear stuff I wouldn't normally have listened to. If you'd care to do as Shawnte suggests and post playlists that would be great.
