If I Stay Lucky Then My Tongue Will Stay Tied
This week's playlist is a really fun one - chock full of quirky lyrics and twang twang twang. Never mind that two of these artists are Irish and a third is Canadian... Res ipsa loquitwang, I say. Or something like that.
One of the gems on this playlist is "Lucky" by Seven Mary Three, with the lyric: "If I stay lucky then my tongue will stay tied, and I won't betray the things that I hide."
Lucky is the opening track from their Rock Crown album. The album was absolutely brilliant, and, apparently, it sold about fifteen copies. OK, it sold far more than that, but it wasn't the success the record label wanted, which explains why they never released anything else like it. And that's a shame, because they're far too talented to be just another alt-rock wannabe band.

Another gem from this week's playlist comes from "The Real Tina Turner" by David Dondero:
I condensed my whole life into a gym bag
which was stolen tonight from your car
my wallet, my keys, my shoes and photos
they even took the voter registration card
Put my mouth into a smile
and let my heart drive
buy some new used clothes
and I'll be fine
Well here's to the crook who took my old life
I was a real Tina Turner in those times
- David Dondero
