Can I Get Back Under?

It's Music Monday here at Jalpuna. Before I get to this week's playlist, a few words from Ben Folds:

In this time of introspection, on the eve of my election, I say to my reflection "god please spare me more rejection"

'cause my peers, they criticize me, and my ex-wives all despise me. Try to put it all behind me, but my redneck past is nipping at my heels

Hear hear! Preach on, brother!

This week's playlist is simply a bunch of fun tracks that sound good together when played in this order. Nothing particularly meaningful today. Just fun.

    Back Under
    11/20/06 - 11/26/06

  1. The Great Escape | We Are Scientists
  2. It's A Gas | The Wedding Present
  3. Dirty Mouth | Hot Hot Heat
  4. Army | Ben Folds Five
  5. Brothers On A Hotel Bed | Death Cab for Cutie
  6. The Crane Wife 3 | The Decemberists
  7. Violent Dreams | Jump, Little Children
  8. Next To You | Bell X1
  9. Take a Picture | Filter
  10. All The Same | Sick Puppies

The title to this week's playlist comes from a great line in the song "Next To You" by the Irish band Bell X1:

"I'm not over you. Can I get back under?"

If I've said it once, I've said it a million times... I can't believe Bell X1 doesn't have a label - or even distribution - here in the U.S. That's a crime.

Bell X1 - "Next To You"

It was part of our experiment
When you said go and I went
like a gooseberry on Noah's ark

I watched them file in two by two
And I set sail without you
And we were carried on the flood of your tears

Time pulls a face when I'm next to you
Let's hope the wind changes

Now I'm looking for dry land
As all this crying subsides
But I'm like Columbus in India

I'm a little all over the shop
Like those holy souvenirs from Knock
that come all the way from China

Time pulls a face when I'm next to you
Let's hope the wind changes

'Cos we'd be stuck in this place
For an age or two
I hope the wind changes
And the vacuum in space will draw me to you
I hope the wind changes

'cos I'm not over you
Can I get back under?
I am not over you
Can I get back under?

Hmmmm - your radio page seems to be down (unless it's a failure on my system?). And I was so in the mood for Sick Puppies after just watching the Juan Mann "Free Hugs" thing (w/ their music) on youtube. Oh well, I'll catch up on last week's musical offerings from paperthinwalls.com instead. I'll check back in later, see if this is fixed.....
