Go Steeler!

A few shots of Portland's "Steel Bridge" on a clear late-September evening.

The Steel Bridge is an imposing structure - and that's putting it mildly. There's a lot of info about it on Wikipedia (of course).

"The Steel Bridge is a through truss, double lift bridge across the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon. It carries railroad and pedestrian traffic on the lower deck, and Highway 1W (former Route 99W), MAX light rail and a vintage streetcar on the upper deck, making it one of the most multimodal in the world. It is the only double-deck bridge with independent lifts in the world and the second oldest vertical lift bridge in North America."

Here's my favorite random piece of Steel-Bridge-grafitti...

These were taken on the loop from Waterfront Park to the east side Esplanade, downtown. It was around 6:30 to 7:30pm, so the sun was setting.

The train pics were taken in Waterfront Park while walking toward the Steel Bridge, and the big tall pic was taken on the east side esplanade using a 200mm zoom lens - which is why it looks like I was closer than I was.

There's a better (and much larger) version of most of these pics on my twenty200.com site.
