The Blower's Playlist
This week's Jalpuna radio takes me back to my college radio days at Edinboro University of PA.
I worked my way up through the ranks at 88.9, WFSE FM, until I became the station's general manager. I also served as news director and a music director, not to mention being on the air any time I could.
Of all the things I did at that station, my favorite was a specialty show I hosted on Sunday nights from 8 to 11pm. I remember it so well.
The show was called Radio Free Edinboro. It was more or less a mix of everything from classic rock to new alternative - often with a theme for the show's second hour. This post, however, reminds me of the end of each week's show.
Each week, for three years, I played a half hour of heart-stopping, soul-searching, gut-wrenching depression music. God, I loved it.
And you say
"be still my love
open up your heart
let the light shine in"
Don't you understand?
I already have a plan
I'm waiting for my real life to begin.
- Colin Hay
