Two Pigeons

I spotted two pigeons on the sidewalk that lines the east side of Tenth Avenue the other day. Their little pigeon heads were bobbing in unison as they made their way to wherever it is that pigeons go. But when the first reached the street, the second stayed on the curb. And then it turned away.

And I knew this is how a love dies.

Oh, the loneliness of realizing you've walked too far.

Oh, the sorrow of finding that your partner has walked farther than you are able to go.

"You're not really talking about walking, are you Rob?"

No, I'm not.
