I don't understand Americans at all.
Remember September 11th? Anybody? ELLOOOOO???? The man who orchestrated that tragic event is still free, still organizing his followers and still raising money for what must be assumed to be future attacks. Rather than wage a full on assault of his al Qaeda network, President Bush sent over a hundred thousand American troops to Iraq.
Tonight, during the third presidential debate, John Kerry said the following:
"When the president had an opportunity to capture or kill Osama bin Laden, he took his focus off of them, outsourced the job to Afghan warlords, and Osama bin Laden escaped.
Six months after he said Osama bin Laden must be caught dead or alive, this president was asked, "Where is Osama bin Laden?"
He said, "I don't know. I don't really think about him very much. I'm not that concerned."
Bush denied ever saying that - but immediately after the debate, CNN aired a tape of Dubya saying exactly that when answering a CNN reporters question at a press conference.
A Fox News report from March 14th quotes Bush as saying the following about bin Laden:
"I don't know where he is. I just don't spend that much time on it."
United Press International (UPI) quoted Bush in a report on January 22'nd, in which Bush said this about bin Laden:
"We want him dead or alive ... but we are not too worried about him. ... He is the one who needs to be worried"
...and yet BUSH has credibility on the war on terror?
Great post. I agree completely. It seems that unless things are constantly in front of people they do easily forget.
I was thinking that myself this September 11th...none of the blogs I frequent said anything about the anniversary. I didn't either, though, but I didn't post anything at all.
I couldn't think of anything that would be significant as I thought it needed to be.::::: | October 14, 2004 4:43 PM
It's insane, isn't it?
